Ingredients

  • 4 large oranges (navel or Valencia)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • Extra sugar for coating

Instructions

  1. Wash oranges, cut peels into strips.
  2. Boil peels for 5 minutes, drain, repeat 3–5 times.
  3. Simmer peels in sugar and water for 45–60 minutes.
  4. Drain, coat with sugar, and dry 3–4 hours.
  5. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Leftover syrup can flavor cocktails or tea. Dip dried peels in dark chocolate for a gourmet version.
