Description

For the Cake

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Glaze

  • 4 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter with cocoa powder, salt, and water until smooth.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, and baking soda.
  4. Pour warm cocoa mixture into dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Add eggs, sour cream, and vanilla; whisk until smooth.
  6. Pour batter into prepared bundt pan.
  7. Bake 40–45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a rack.
  9. For glaze, heat chocolate, cream, corn syrup, and sugar until glossy.
  10. Drizzle glaze over cooled cake and let set before serving.

Notes

Grease the bundt pan thoroughly to prevent sticking. Sour cream may be replaced with full-fat Greek yogurt. Allow cake to cool fully before glazing for best results.
